Now...
an even safer Internet Banking environment is here!
Recent
recommendations from regulators indicate a need to provide
a more secure environment for customers who do their banking
through the Internet. They have concluded that logging in
with a single password (single-factor authentication) is no
longer sufficient for the protection of sensitive customer
information. As a result, First State Bank has implemented
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) with your Internet Banking
access.
With MFA implementation, you will go through some additional
steps the first time you log on to Internet Banking.
Please note that your IB password has NOT changed.
When you attempt to log on the first time, you will see an
authentication image that is assigned automatically to you.
A field is provided for you to create an authentication
phrase. This phrase (or word) can be related to the
image, or it can simply be something you will remember.
From that point forward, you should see that image and phrase
each time you enter your login ID, but before you enter your
password. This allows you to verify that you are actually
entering our secure site. If you do not see this image
and phrase before entering your password, you should not continue.
Contact First State Bank immediately.
You will next answer three challenge questions that will provide
additional security in the event you are accessing your information
from an unregistered PC (explained below). A choice
of questions is available when clicking on the drop-down boxes
for each challenge question field. Special characters
are not allowed in any of the fields. This includes
both the authentication phrase and the challenge-question
answers.
The final step is to determine whether you want to register
the PC you are using. A cookie is placed on a registered
PC so that it is recognized by us when you enter your User
ID. If you are using a public PC (such as at the Library
or an Internet Café), you would not want to register
that PC. Your home and/or work PC’s may be computers
that you would register. You may still log in from an
unregistered PC, but you will need to correctly answer a challenge
question before you see the screen with your image, phrase
and password field. Note: You may register more than
one PC.
In a continued effort to protect confidential customer information,
First State Bank is proud to provide these additional security
features. We hope that our customers also recognize
their part in protecting User ID’s, passwords, PINS,
etc that make electronic banking such a convenience.
