About Manly

Home of the Central Springs Panthers!

Manly is a rural community with a population of approximately 1,350 residents, located at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 65. The town is rich in railroad and agricultural history.  Late in August, we celebrate Railroad/Ag Days with a parade and many activities, including our Manly RAD Bike Ride, featuring eighteen, twenty-seven, thirty-five and fifty mile routes.

One of the finest assets of our community is our Central Spirngs School District (above).   The North Central School district combined with Nora Springs/Rock Falls schools in a whole grade sharing agreement in 2007 to form Central Springs.  The high school is located in Manly and the middle school in Nora Springs.  Each school retained their elementary schools.  A state-of-the-art fitness center is open to the public in Manly five days a week and is furnished with weights, weight machines, treadmills and cardio equipment.

The Manly Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a sixty-five bed care center which includes an Alzheimer's unit and also assisted living apartments.

We also have senior living apartments called Manly Retirement Apartments and Friendship Village.

The Manly Public Library is another great asset to our community. Many sources of information and entertainment are available, including: books, magazines, newspapers, public Internet access, videos, story hour on Thursday mornings and many special programs throughout the year.

The Pioneer Town and Country Club and Golf Course is a beautiful, nine-hole facility located on the east edge of Manly. Yearly memberships are available, and anyone outside an eight-mile radius of Manly is welcome to come and pay green fees to enjoy the course. The clubhouse is available for rent for class reunions, weddings, anniversaries, and graduation receptions. The golf course is known for its challenging greens and its numerous water hazards.

A new aquatic center will open in the spring of 2008 with a pool and water slide.   It is located on the west edge of town.  Also, a new housing development, ball diamonds and soccer fields are being built on the northwest corner of Manly.

We are fortunate to have a fire station and police station to help protect our community. Our police officers and volunteer firemen are first-rate. We have a Manly Rescue Unit that is always ready with well-trained volunteers to be of assistance when emergencies arise.

Active churches located in the City of Manly include: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bethel United Methodist Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church and New Bethel Baptist Church.

Other service organizations include: Manly Lions Club, American Legion and Auxiliary, Manly Development Committee, Manly Parks and Rec. and numerous church, school, 4-H and scouting groups.
